At BFC working with Children and Youth is taken very seriously, with biblical care and concern as our guiding principles. Children are important to God so they are important to us at BFC. Before anyone is accepted to work in the children and youth ministry at BFC, all of our workers go through a thorough process. It begins with an application form and interview to determine suitability and skills. This is followed by an interview by a person in BFC leadership. A Bible study program is next and the person is then educated on the Child Protection Policy within BFC. At this stage a Police Background Check, (volunteer assessment) is undertaken on the person. Once BFC receives a “clearance”, the person then receives specific training on how to minister to children and youth. It is only after completing this entire process that the person will begin working with children and youth. However, the process does not stop there. A mandatory refresher course is held every year. Workers are updated on the Child Protection Policy and receive further training on working with children and youth at BFC.
